SEAN RAGAN

My storied academic history includes a BA/honors/Philosophy, a minor in History, a 1-year stint at law school, and a BS/Chemistry, in that order. All were taken at UT-Austin. My undergraduate research experience includes behavioral science research with Dr. Richard Golden at the University of Texas at Dallas, polymer photobleaching under Dr. David VandenBout at UT-Austin, and natural product synthesis (Rhyncophyline) under Dr. Stephen F. Martin, also at UT-Austin. I joined Dr. Anslyn's research group as a graduate student in the Spring of 2006.

My current project aims to develop a differential array sensor for trace ketones and aldehydes in aqueous matrices based on their condensation with polyhydrazine receptors. I'm also interested in CO2-switchable hydrophilicity in amidines following Charles Liotta's recent work, and in the development of practical methods to measure enantiomeric excess polarimetrically at the HTS scale.
