I was born and raised in Pakistan, in the city of Karachi. I completed my BS in the University of Karachi and did research under the direction of Dr. Majid on the “Detection of Transition Metal’s in Chewing Tobacco by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy”. I moved to US and decided to do my MS in Texas State University. There I did research with Dr. Gary Beall on clay based nanocomposites (exciting stuff) my interest in organic chemistry originated there, I was inspired by my organic professor who encouraged me to go on and join the PhD program at UT Austin.

When I visited UT I met Dr. Eric Anslyn, His research is focused on molecular recognition and supramolecular chemistry. I decided to join his research group as they are a bunch of fun loving chemists. Currently my research project involves development of method for facile and rapid ee determination, for high throughput screening of different catalyst to identify reactions that results in high ee values.  I worked on this project with our former post-doc Dr.Lei Zhu who developed this method and my job is to implement this method and prove that it works on different substrates.

Another project that I am currently involved in is the ANN (Artificial Neural Network). I am developing a method for fast de, ee and yield determination using ANN, with our boronic receptors.
