Mass
Spectrometer |
This
home-built mass spectrometer is
the newest addition to our lab
which
combines linear ion trap technology with the high resolution capability
and high mass range of
a reflectron time of flight mass analyzer. The linear ion trap serves
as
an accumulation cell, where conventional collision
activated dissociation
(CAD) or photodissociation experiments can be conducted prior to TOF
analysis. Both infrared as well as ultraviolet laser
activation will be used on
this system to provide a powerful multi-pronged strategy for
proteomic and
genomic applications.

3DQ QIT Mass Spectrometer |
| This
flexible instrument offers electrospray ionization and a fully
integrated HPLC
system. We have recently completed modifications that further extend
its
considerable capabilities to include both ion/molecule reactions and
infrared
multiphoton dissociation. The resulting system promises to be a
valuable
platform for various experiments in ion energetics as well as
qualitative and
quantitative LCMS. |

| ThermoFinnigan
LCQ Duo QIT Mass Spectrometer |
| Although
often used for routine analysis,
our
laboratory uses the LCQ Duo for research areas ranging from ion
energetics and the fundamentals of electrospray ionization to the
analysis of complex biological mixtures. Designed for both
HPLC
interface and direct infusion experiments, the LCQ Duo has become
a workhorse in our laboratory. |

| ThermoFinnigan
LCQ Classic QIT Mass Spectrometer |
| This
instrument is similar to the LCQ Duo in its potential; however this
instrument
has been modified to provide the additional capability of
photodissociation. Infrared multiphoton dissociation has
increased the
information available upon dissociation of peptides, and ultraviolet
photodissociation is planned for the near future. |

Microbore HPLC |
| Coupled
with the ThermoFinnigan LCQ Duo
as a mass
selective detector, this separations module is used to develop
analytical methods for complex pharmaceutical and natural
product mixtures and is capable of a broad range of LC/MS and
LC/MS/MS analyses. |

Saturn 4D GC/MS |
| This
GC/MS is a powerful analytical tool
capable of tandem mass spectrometry as well as CI methods. We are
also evaluating Solid Phase Micro-Extraction (SPME) as a means of
sample preparation prior to GC/MS separation and analysis. |
